Syria The Land Of Civilization
Syria
Was the link
of the ancient world and played a great role in developing civilization
of the countries around it. It gave
humanity its first Alphabet and through Syria passed The Silk Road.
The Syrian Phoenician merchents spred their trades all over the
Ancient world and with it they carried their civilization, sciences
and religion. From it came The Aramaic; Christ`s Mother Tongue. From
Syria came also powerful leaders such as: Philip The Arab( 244-249
A.D.). The Roman Catholic Chruch chose several syrians to be the
pops of The Vatican in Rome from St.Anicet the 11tht o
St. Groggiee III, The 90th Pop. Syria continued its
historical role. The Omayyad Dynasty (661-750 A.D) with it`s Capital
Damascus, the most ancient city in the world, dominated the largest
empire ever known till then. Syria is known as The Largest Museum
in the world. On and under it`s land we can find many splendid
memorials of ancient and modern History.

Kept its
importance as a Mediterranean country with its unique position at
the cross road of the three continents: Europe, Asia and Africa.
Bordered by the White Mediterranean Sea and Lebanese mountains from
the west, The Turkish hills and Toros mountains from the north, the
iraquee, Saudi Arabian and Jordanian desert and hills from the east
and the south and rivers like Euphrates and Ornate, Barada, AlAssi
and many others. With a position like this, Syria is considered The
land of contrasts where you can experience the four seasons and enjoy
the different landscapes that varies from the beautiful Sea sides to
the hard desert passing by mountains and green plains. The Syrian
visitor is astonished by the peoples` hospitality, the delicious
cuisine and pleasant climate.
